Dream Home: A Knock-Down-Rebuild Hamptons House

After searching for an ideal family home for over a year, Nathan and Melissa Archer stumbled across a post-war home that was the perfect candidate for a knock-down-and-rebuild project. They designed and built their dream Hamptons home with Evermore and say they have never looked back. Here’s their story.

“Our desire was to build a quality home that was full of character and cater for our growing family. It had to be open plan and seamlessly flow from the living areas to the deck and beyond to the pool and garden. Our brief to Evermore was to create beautiful dream family home full of character that would fit right into the area—and that’s just what we got!”

“Ultimately we wanted a look that was timeless, full of character and that perfectly complemented the area we live in. We wanted the house to look as though it could have been there for yearsScyon Linea™ weatherboard certainly helped to achieve this timeless look amongst a suburb of classic weatherboard homes. The Hamptons-meets-Queenslander was the look that we wanted.”

We love the fresh, crisp white tones with hints of grey—it just oozes the sense of calm which is perfect, even in the city. We were tempted to be adventurous in some of our selections but our conservative side got the better of us and so we kept to the timeless schemes including the traditional white subway tiles, wide oak floorboards and white classic two-pack shaker style cabinetry all throughout the home.

“Once our building journey began we communicated our desired look with Evermore via detailed planning sessions with their in-house designers and interior designers. We shared mood boards, designs and floor plans that we had drafted as a starting point. This process did take some time to get the final look, however all the team at Evermore were dedicated to achieving our desired look and feel which derived from our initial brief and WOW! The final result is our own unique ‘forevermore+ home.'”

“Our favourite features of our home would have to be details- the colours, the weatherboards, the gables and the relaxed elegance! It is a sophisticated look. We love that the Hamptons style works so well in Queensland because it has many similar features to traditional Queenslanders.”

“We love being at home and opening up the doors to relax on the deck and entertain with family and friends. We use every inch of the space that we designed and have never looked back after designing our dream Hamptons home. We feel incredibly lucky to have this beautiful home.”
