Innovative new Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding by James Hardie makes a statement in sophisticated coastal architecture, achieving a modern design with style.
Along the coast of Queensland’s Palm Beach is a stunning newly built modern house with unique coastal inspirations, incorporating the homeowner’s request for a contemporary design with simple shapes, clean lines and a relaxed, breezy open floor plan. The challenge for development and construction business, Shoredan Projects, was balancing the practicality and sophistication of the home while keeping within budget in a premium location.
“Our motto is ‘from conception to perfection’. Every construction choice we make is to achieve perfection,” explains Dan Glennon, Shoredan’s Director. “We chose to use Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding from James Hardie on the exterior because it provides extensive benefits not only to the homeowner in regards to design possibilities and long term durability, but also to the building team in terms of ease of use and speed to complete the project and let the homeowners enjoy their new house.”
Featuring a pool, al fresco living and dining spaces, and beautiful gardens, the house was designed to seamlessly merge indoor and outdoor living. With a focus on making a statement in stylish coastal architecture, the home’s façade showcases a mix of cladding profiles to reflect the beachside surrounds.
Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding is designed with subtle and uncluttered lines and textured macro-detailing that makes the home’s modern coastal look perfectly cohesive and timelessly appealing. “To bring to life the contemporary style our client requested, Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding was used for two-thirds of the home’s façade, with Axon™ Cladding by James Hardie completing the exterior,” says Dan.
The modern coastal meets mixed cladding look is grounded in the principles of modern design, which dictate simple, exact design, leaving no room for imperfections. The mixed appeal of a bold modern-look achieved with Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding, and the dramatic detail and clean crisp vertical lines of Axon™ Cladding, bring personality to the home.
Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding is a fibre cement wall panel embedded with a fine texture for a modern design aesthetic. Built for tough Australian conditions, each panel is beautifully consistent, with clean lines and subtle V-joint making the product distinctive. The smooth, natural sand texture diffuses light giving a matte appearance, adding to the overall minimalist style and providing long lasting beauty and endless design possibilities for homeowners. The cladding can also be paired with a suite of designer accessories for horizontal joints and corners to ensure precision detailing and a crisp resolved finish.
“Speed of building is always a consideration as homeowners are keen to move in and start living. Using Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding panels with the embedded texture eliminated the additional standard time-consuming step of adding a rendered finish. This streamlined the build, allowing for a more efficient installation and enabled us to stay on schedule and budget,” Dan explains.
Each panel comes pre-sealed and can be finished simply with two coats of paint in any colour of choice. To complete the look’s beachside appeal, the colour consultant applied Dulux Casper White Quarter, a low-sheen paint that helps bring out the matte look assisted by the texture.
Additionally, the premium fibre cement composition requires lower maintenance than traditional cement render, and is resistant to damage from moisture and cracking for long-term durability and easy maintenance.
Hardie™ Fine Texture Cladding is perfect for renovations, alterations and additions providing a contemporary facade, with a uniform finish, in line with the modern meets coastal design of the house. It can be used in bushfire zones, having bushfire attack level requirements to BAL40.
“James Hardie’s modern cladding materials provided across the board benefits, from build to design. The finished home perfectly suits the market, with the quality, finishing and details a high-end buyer would expect,” adds Dan.
